WHERE IS FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF ABBEVILLE?

Our campus is located at 15 East Long Street in Abbeville, Mississippi.

 

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CHURCH?

We believe that a church is a fellowship of reconciled and reconciling believers, a community of the Holy Spirit, a people in whom Christ dwells, a people with a newness of life who are transmitters of that newness.
We believe that our purpose as a church is to bring glory to God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:19,20.  To maintain a place of religious worship, to promote the teaching and preaching of the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  To promote, maintain and defend the principles and faith of the Christian religion, and to promote and maintain the teachings, doctrine and policy of the Christian denomination and sect usually and universally known as Baptist.

 
WHAT IS YOUR SERVICE FORMAT?

 We provide an inviting and friendly atmosphere at First Baptist Church of Abbeville.  You will hear a blended music of hymns and praise songs.  We encourage the congregation to sing and participate in worship.  A Christ-centered message is presented that is practical and relevant to your everyday life.

 

HOW DO I FIT IN?

We will provide you with the opportunity and the resources to grow in your faith and understanding of God's plan for your life.  You can become as involved as you choose.  Our focus is becoming a church where everyone can find where they fit in.

 

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR?

We are interested in you - not your wardrobe.  Many in our congregation wear a variety of clothes.   Some wear jeans, some like to dress up a bit more, but overall we are casual in our dress.  We want you to feel comfortable yet presentable for worship in God's house.

 

WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?
GREAT QUESTION!  We love children! They are the church of tomorrow. We provide childcare for our services.  Our Nursery is available for newborns through 4 years old.

There are Sunday School classes for all ages.  Classes start at 9:00 a.m. every Sunday.  In our Sunday Morning Worship Service, we have a special time called "Pastor's Pals" for a Children's sermon.  The first Sunday of each month, they will be dismissed to Children's Church.  During Children's Church, they will be using music, Bible stories, and Christ-centered curricula designed especially for children.  Of course, your children are always welcome to join you for worship in the auditorium.

 

WHAT ABOUT YOUTH ACTIVITIES?

The Youth Ministry at FBCA exists to equip and train today's youth for a life of following Jesus Christ through Bible study, Discipleship, Missions, and fellowship.

 
IF I VISIT, WILL I BE ASKED TO STAND OR SPEAK?

We will take a moment to say "Welcome" to our guests, but you will not be asked to stand or to say anything.

 

WILL I BE ASKED FOR MONEY?

Giving is voluntary.   As our guest, we would not want you to feel obligated to give.  We do, however, teach occasionally on Biblical stewardship.  If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact our pastor, Bro. Randy Hope, to discuss it.
